Saturday 13:00 – 15:00
Stephen Kelleher, architect, will lead tours of this new scheme of 30 sheltered housing units.
The development is primarily aimed at those over 60 considering downsizing from large council owned homes.
It is is managed by Túath Housing under a social leasing scheme.
The scheme has been short listed for an award with the Irish Council for Social Housing under the category Housing for the Elderly.
The central courtyard – at the heart of the scheme – is secure, sunny and animated, and has a unique character, creating a sense of place for residents and visitors alike, whilst providing operational benefit in terms of passive surveillance.
The accommodation is designed with regard to Lifetime Homes standards to accommodate residents and visitors with varying levels of mobility, including those in wheelchairs, recognising that the needs of each individual will also vary over time.
