Join local author Tom Spalding on a tour to discover the Mardyke you never knew existed! In 1902 and 1903 Cork held one of the most spectacular Exhibitions in its history which saw literally everyone from Patrick Pearse to Edward VII descend on Leeside over two summers. The event featured everything from demonstrations of X rays and a fax machine to a living exhibit consisting of a family of Norman ‘peasants’. Learn how Cork Corporation constructed over 250,000 sq. ft. of temporary buildings, side shows and amusements in little over 14 months and discover the legacy, both social and architectural, this event left behind.
